I am an Assistant Professor of Social Communication at the School of Social Communication in the Faculty of Human Sciences at Saint Paul University (Federated with the University of Ottawa).
I am a member of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the University of Ottawa.
My approach to the study of culture, media and communication is multidisciplinary. My research encompasses new media and digital culture, social media, intangible heritage, popular culture, gender studies, critical theory, media archaeology and media history.
I hold a doctoral degree from the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University where, I was a member of the international research group, Culture of Cities Project (a Major Collaborative Research Initiative funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada). Since then, a host of research positions and awards has enhanced my current work:
- Research Associate at the Simone de Beauvoir Institute at Concordia University
- Scientist-in-Residence at gendup: Centre for Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Salzburg
- Visiting Scholar at the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada
- Muriel Gold Senior Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies at McGill University
- Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Advanced Cultural Studies Institute of Sweden at Linköping University
- Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Department of Sociology at Goldsmiths', University of London, funded by the Society and Culture Research Council of Quebec/Canada
This international research conducted in institutions throughout the world – Canada, England, Sweden, Austria and Turkey – has enriched my work with a global perspective.
